Launch of QUALISCAPES – Assessing tipping points in Baukultur qualities
QUALISCAPES explores how spatial, social, and ecological thresholds influence the quality of our built environments, with a particular focus on identifying critical transitions in contemporary landscapes.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the research project QUALISCAPES – Assessing Tipping Points in Baukultur Qualities, one of 13 initiatives selected for funding under the external page National Research Programme NFP81 “Baukultur – Cultivating the Built Environment.”
The project is led by Prof. Dr. Adrienne Grêt-Regamey (ETH Zurich) and Prof. Frédéric Bonnet (USI), and brings together a distinguished team of experts: Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Reynard (UNIL), Dr. Raimund Rodewald (Stiftung Landschaftsschutz Schweiz), Urs Steiger (Landschaftsschutzverband Vierwaldstättersee), Dr. Philipp Urech (ETHZ/USI), and Dr. Roger Keller (University of Zurich).
The official kickoff took place on May 15, 2025, in Thun, coinciding with the launch of the full NFP81 programme. This event marked the beginning of a collaborative, interdisciplinary effort across Switzerland to shape the future of Baukultur.
