Materials for Architectural Rendering

flyer

Researchers from the Computation Design Laboratory hosted a seminar week titled "Materials for Architectural Rendering" at ETH Zurich during the Autumn Semester.

This five-day course introduced participants to state-of-the-art techniques on architectural visualization using Adobe Substance and Blender. Participants had hands-on workshops on techniques such as procedural material creation using graph-based workflows and generative AI, environmental programming with varied lighting conditions, and realistic architectural scene rendering. These skills were put into practice through projects featuring the NEST DFAB House and HiLo, which the students visited during the seminar week.

The course was led by:

Featured specialized lectures and workshops by Prof. Bernd Bickel on computer graphics, external page Dr. Valentin Deschaintre (Adobe Research) on material synthesis, and external page Prof. Dr. Daniel Sýkora (Czech Technical University and Google DeepMind) on stylization techniques.
