Sophia Kuhn is pursuing her PhD under Prof. Dr. Walter Kaufmann at ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on integrating AI and machine learning into bridge design and infrastructure assessment to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Dr Olga Vysotska, the first Design++ postdoctoral fellow, specializes in the localization of robots and augmented reality devices within construction environments. Her work explores the intersection of robotics, augmented reality, and construction, aiming to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tasks in ever-changing environments.

Large-scale Virtualization and Modeling Lab
We were thrilled to announce the successful integration of the Large-scale Virtualization and Modeling Lab (LVML) into Design++. On October 3, 2023, this milestone marked a collaborative achievement between the Departments of Architecture (D-ARCH) and Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG). The event celebrated LVML's rich history and set the stage for future academic exploration and interdisciplinary cooperation. Exciting times ahead!

New Professor for Computational Design
At its meeting of 8 and 9 March 2023 and upon application of Joël Mesot, President of ETH Zurich, the ETH Board appointed Bernd Bickel as Professor of Computational Design at D-ARCH and D-BAUG and granted Stephan Pfister the title professor.

Professor Bernd Bickel, currently Professor and Vice President for Technology Transfer at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, and Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google in Zurich, as Full Professor of Computational Design in the Department of Architecture and equally affiliated with the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG). The appointment of Bernd Bickel is embedded within Design++, we are looking forward!

Open Position: Professor of Augmented Computational Design in AEC
The Department of Architecture (www.arch.ethz.ch) and the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (www.baug.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich conjointly invite applications for the above-mentioned position. The new professorship will be embedded in Design++. The new professor is expected to develop a strong and visible research programme in the area of augmented computational design in architecture, engineering and construction with a focus on artificial intelligence.
